I signed up to be on a city league basketball team and I have to 3 weeks to practice for the tryouts. I need some really good basketball exercises to prepare for the team, especially with my dribbling. I also need help to increase my stamina.

If you’re not doing this already, the best way to prepare for upcoming basketball is to PLAY basketball. So get in on some pickup games at the park, use the phone book and look for lighted courts so that you can play after the sun goes down.
As far as Exercises…
- just do a bunch of cardio / go for jogs to get your stamina up. Maybe run some lines (FT line n back, 1/2 court n back, etc)
Drills…
- Dribbling. Dribble, shoot, rebound for 10 min with your off hand. Then switch to your good hand.
Other good ones are stand still, with one hand dribble front to back, start out with far dribbles and end up with short quick dribbles for 10-20 reps, Then dribble right to left, same thing. Repeat with other hand.
- Passing: Find a wall of concrete or something and aim for a spot. Use every type of pass to consisently hit the spot – bounce pass, behind the back, 2 hand, 1 hand, etc. Switch hands and repeat.
That’s all I got for now. Those are ones I usually do to warmup before a game. GL!
What i do for dribbling is put Markers (Cones or a Jacket or something) Down on the courts and dribble up to it like its a defender, i do a crossover or something and take it to the hoop…You can also make a dribble course and just do behind the backs around the markers or a Dribble move. For Shooting Just Shoot the ball and if you miss just run grab the rebound and shoot it from there.
