practice hard, hard hard, im a guy..lol so not much i can say but just go 110% everyday at practice and listen to ur coach and learn and if they give any drills or w/e do them when ur at home also, but yea not much i can say so … lol yea
practicing do ur basics, passing, setting, hitting and serving. these are best done with a partner but u can use a wall. i would start running 1/4 a mile everyday (that comes in handy for suprise drills ur coach comes up with)
My camp starts next monday. So, my routine conditioning has been intense. Every other day i run distance. This is just to get in shape and just in case the mile has anything to do with your tryouts. on those days i play volleyball. Get a parent or friend to just toss you the ball and work on your passing and setting. Then, if you can, get friends to go to the park or beach and play beach volleyball. Coaches love players that can serve, so SERVE!!! On the other days when I don’t run distances, I go in my backyard and do sprints. Those are very important and you will get into great shape. On those days, I do all of my conditioning. I do wall sits, squats, pushups, weight resistance training, bicep curls, strengthening of the shoulders and upper body. Anything that makes you sore… DO IT! It will help so much. Good luck with your tryouts, i hope this helps!
Well you know if its your favorite sport and you wanna make the team you gotta work hard. Set yourself to practicing a lot durring the day. Work on passing (making sure that you can pass to yourself more than 10 times) setting to yourself, serving ( thats a tough one cuz you need a net or at least something to tell you how high the net is, like some sort of mark) and then you need to work on hitting (spiking the ball, you can do that by standing at least 5 feet from a wall, and hit it towards the ground, make it hit the wall, then come back to you and repeat it. Running at least 30 minutes a day will help, workin on your foot work to make you quicker when the ball is next to you. Mostly excersising to be in shape.
get a friend and just do peppering ( pass set hit) back and forth also practice serving. also listen to your coaches at the tryouts.
warmups= run run run just run and lift weights espeicaly work on your arms
drills= sprints
for setting you should continue setting and go down on the ground laying on your back then continue setting and get back up it took me forever to do that right but it really helped also if you have a low roof hit the volleyball serving and setting and bumping wise or hit againsta wall just play regular volleyball against the wall!!!
i wish you good luck and i cant wait until my volleyball starts but once again good luck!! oh and im sure your not really bad!
volleyball is my fave sport too and what i do is always practice and work hard
make sure u have ur setting down and bumping(passing) and all that good stuff
run- help move your feet
crunches- abs
squats- legs your need to stay down
weights- work out your arms
all i can tell you is practice makes perfect…go to a gym w/ a volleyball net and bring some friends..there u can work on ur serves, spikes and everything else..thats what i did…i went to the YMCA everyday to practice for volleyball! i made the team and i didnt sit for one game during the whole season!
Well this is a easy answer…
Practice makes perfect! I know you have heard that a millions of times before but it works!
Here are some easy drills.
+Get the volleyball go against the wall and set it to the wall.
+Get friends and do bunt set spike!
+Serve against wall–Easy not hard don’t want to hurt your arm.
Warm-ups
+My favorite is slidding…Because it makes you not afraid, and makes you be able to get up fast.
+And make sure you stretch your arm!!(most important)
+And then legs(second most important)
I was last years captain so like I led them in these warm-ups and we wasn’t the worst team out or the greateast but we was good we lost one game out of 15 games.
You should work out on what gets you noticed at tryouts. The above answers are good. You need to practice and work out like they said. But you should also work on things that will get you noticed at practice.
Most people work hard while they are on the court and participating in the drill. You should also run when you are not really part of the drill on the court. For example, the hitting line. Most people hit and then jog to get the ball back or wait for someone to throw the ball back to them. And then jog to get back in line. Why not run instead? It gets you noticed and you get more reps in the same amount of time.
If a coach points out an error in your technique, your correct response is "thank you, I will work on that." And mean it. No rolling of your eyes or anything that will get you noticed in the negative way. (When I coached club, my least favorite answer was "my high school coach said to do it this way.")
If you are struggling with a particular skill, ask for help from a coach. Practicing the wrong skill over and over and over again will not get you on the team. If you ask for help, you will get noticed for your willingness to learn.
Have a positive attitude toward everyone. Never make a negative comment toward anyone at any time. You never know when someone is listening and can hear your negativity.
You need to talk during the drills. Telling your team mates to hit line or cross court and calling the ball when it is yours and calling the ball in and out are examples. I do not mean have a converstion with your friends about your anything.
These things will never help you if you do not practice like the above answers say. However, if you are even with some other people, you can make the team by doing these things.
Good luck
