I am in the same spot! I asked my coach what i all could do and she told me that i should not worry to much about it, if you worry you play worse and then when you go out for the team the coach will see you at your worst first, and you now that you don’t want that! But she did tell me that i should practice bumps, sets, serves, spikes, and get my vertical as best that i could. Also, whenever you get a chance go to a court work on them things there also, and you may learn even so more things to do there as well. One other thing you can do is ask some of your friends that you will be playing volleyball with and see if they have anything they think you should do or maybe they would want to play a little game with you too, to help you practice. And lastly, if you go to a sporty goods store, there is a thing called "Volleyball Pale" There is a piece you strap around a volleyball and then a piece you strap around your waist and then you connect them two things together, that way when you are practicing you don’t have to chase after your ball every time…they work really good….as soon as you get used to them, it took me about 4 and a half days. Hope this helps!….Good luck this season!
find some friends and practice sets, bumps, digs, and serves. Go to a volleyball court and play pick up games with others. Try to get as much games in before the try outs. The more you play, the more comfortable you will be.
Also, try to play with some of the members of the volleyball team. Get advice from them and learn visually. Try to pick up any pointers.
There is not a lot you can do on your own aside from bumping it over and over (which will drive you crazy and does not allow for real game situation)
find an area where people are playing and get in a game. if you dont live in an area where that is possible then you only need three others for 2 vs 2 and that will give you the most practice because you are hitting it every time the ball is on your side of the net.
there’s center, back rigth, back left, hitter, passer, and setter. theres 3 main things you should know there will always be drill like pass, set, and spike.
find a wall and bump to the wall and let it some back to you…that is always a good way! also like stand in your drive way and estimate the court and serve to the other end…. and when u r board of have nothing to do prastice setting by throwing the ball up in the air and just keep setting time after time….. and practice your footwork for hitting left right left(right handed people) opposite for left…… also practice hitting against a wall and let it bounce back(good way to get arm swing and learn how to snap yor rist…..
good luck!!!!!
practice…look at games on tv, youtube, or any website that can show u a game of volleyball..it will help
Well,
The first thing that you should do if dont know much about volleyball is practice your serves, hitting, and bumps. But, make sure you practice the postion in which you will play. If you are taller, then practice blocking and spiking, work on your upper body, work out. If you are smaller ( which alot of girls on my team are,) work on your bumps, and endurance you will work harder. If you have good hands you may be a setter, set yourself, or to the wall
